Get Carrie’s Dramatic Look

Carrie Underwood at American Music AwardsIf you’re looking to make heads turn on the next night you go out, just do your make-up the way Carrie Underwood did at the American Music Awards! She was able to pull off heavy mascara and eye liner while still looking great! Here’s how to get her look:

1. Apply MAC Pigment in Frozen White [$19.50] all over lid with a q-tip. Be sure to dab in tiny strokes instead of sweep on, so the glitter stays put.

2. Blend Benefit High Beam [$22] with fingertips on brow bone for shimmery highlights.

3. Starting on the inner corner of the lower lash line, draw a very thin line with Physicians Formula Retro Glow Liquid Kohl Eyeliner [$5.95] towards the outer corner.

4. Add drama by drawing a thick line of Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye Pencil in Black [$20] along the upper lash line, from the inner corner to the outer corner. Apply on the lower inner rim as well.

5. Apply two coats of Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara [$17] to upper and lower lashes.

6. Sweep Cover Girl Believable Blush in Rose Silk [$5.09] on apples of cheeks for a rosy glow.

7. Apply i.d. bareMinerals Face Color - Faux Tan [$20] all over cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin. Be sure to use a very slight amount, so you don’t actually look like you have a fake tan!

8. Line lips with Stila Glaze Lip Liner in Rose [$14].

9. Finish off with NARS Lip Gloss in Sandpiper [$23] on lips, and get ready for your close up!

Keep That Summer Glow

One of the unfortunate things about winter is losing that sun-kissed glow from those days at the beach last summer. A nice tan always makes everybody look more attractive, but fake-bake is not an option, because we want to keep our skin healthy, right? Bronzers can bring back that glow to your face, and if you use them the right way, you can have a nice, natural looking color! Here are some of my favorite bronzers that do not look like a “fake tan”:

TIPS FOR BRONZING:

  • Use a big brush for a smooth application
  • Highlight places such as cheekbones, forehead, and nose.
  • Blend very well, especially at your jawline. Make sure that no lines are visible!

The i.d. bareMinerals collection is becoming all the rage now. This foundation is easy to apply, it is fragrance and oil-free, so it will prevent breakouts, and it is so sheer that you can even sleep in it! It is able to provide full coverage without being cakey. When you are wearing bareMinerals, it does not even feel like you’re wearing any make-up. bareMinerals foundation comes in several shades, along with a bronzer called “Warmth”, a rosy blush called “Glee”, and a finishing powder called “Mineral Veil”.
